Nyord is a small island in the south part of Sjælland, Denmark. To reach the island you have to cross a narrow bridge from the nearby larger island of Møn. We have set out for a photography trip to this remote island in Denmark.
Staying in Nyord

The beauty of the Nyord is that it remains in its original form, with several traditional thatched cottages and farm Danish houses. There is a church in the village; a small harbor and a nearby bird observatory overview the large marshland area. The marshland area in Nyord is considered one of Denmark's most important habitats for birds like geese, ducks, and eagles.

If you choose to stay in Nyord, consider bringing some of your own food and supplies. Although there are several restaurants and markets in the nearby island of Møn, you would always have to cover some distance to get there so keep this in mind while planning the trip. Although crossing the bridge between Nyord and Møn is a bit of fun driving. The bridge that connects the two islands is made to fit only one car – so better check than no one is coming from the other direction!

It is a nice experience staying in one of the traditional Danish thatched cottages - constructed hundreds of years ago. There are several on the island and it depends on the season how easily you can find accommodation in one of them. Despite that the cottages are long-standing there, they have all the comforts, technology, and amenities of the modern world, so no worries on that part.

Nature and Wildlife
Seeing a landscape and village in its original form is a nice feeling and also a nice opportunity for nature photography. What makes it special is that apart from strolling around and enjoying the sights of the traditional houses and structures, you can observe a great deal of wildlife in close proximity. Wild deers, hares, eagles, and other bird species are literary everywhere in Nyord. The afternoon hours on a clear day give the opportunity for some beautiful golden hour photography, followed by night photography under the beautiful starry sky.

What better way for a trip combining photography with a relaxing day and night close to the nature.
